Unpacking Potato

Unpacking Potato
Unpacking Potato is where I, a self-proclaimed potato, unpack and explore different topics ranging from relationships, love, self-confidence, and more while sharing the stories of amazing women. My intention for these episodes is for it to become a jumping off point for further self-reflection, exploration, and understanding for you. Everyone’s lives and specific relationships are going to look different and have unique needs, my intention is for us to examine our lives in a more compassionate and kind lens - because we all deserve that!! S2 Ep 18 - How Receiving Love Takes Practice
Hi Tater Tots! In this episode, let’s get into the complexities of self-care, vulnerability, and communication within relationships. A conversation with my aesthetician from a while back got me reflecting about the challenges of receiving care and love, particularly for strong and independent women. I wanted to talk about how societal expectations and the self-care industry often overshadow genuine self-understanding and emotional expression. While self-care is obviously essential, I think that the ability to receive care and love from others is just as important. Through introspection and understanding attachment styles, I wanted to talk about identifying needs and wants and how communicating them clearly to our partners impact our relationships. As always, please take these episodes with a grain of salt - my intention is for these episodes to become a jumping off point for further self-reflection, exploration, and understanding for you. Everyone’s lives and specific relationships are going to look different and have unique needs, my intention is for us to examine our lives in a more compassionate and kind lens - because we all deserve that!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- As usual, google forms are always open for suggestions, stories, feedback, etc. I'd love to hear from you. S2 Ep 17 - Why does it feel less “real” when we have to ask our partner for what we want?
Hello tater tots! I'm so excited to be back! This week I wanted to talk about how sometimes it feels less genuine or real when we have to ask our partners for exactly what we want and unpack that feeling a little bit. I think asking for what we want is harder and puts us in a more vulnerable position compared to wanting and expecting our partners to anticipate our needs and try to read our minds.  Don’t get me wrong, after being with someone for a period of time, your partner may be able to read you and anticipate your needs in this way. However, particularly at the start of relationships (but even in well established relationships as we grow as humans and our needs transform and change), we have to do our own inner work to figure out what our needs are and communicate that with our partner! Join me as I unpack a little of my own experiences with this recently :) --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/unpackingpotato/message

S2 Ep 16 - Perfectionism & Trying New Things
Hello everyone! I’ve been having a lot of conversations recently about fear surrounding trying new things due to the feeling of needing to be perfect. This is something I’ve been actively trying to work on. And honestly the more I’ve been able to let go of the notion of being perfect at doing things the more I’ve had the space for new experiences! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ As usual, google forms are always open for suggestions, stories, feedback, etc. I'd love to hear from you. S2 Ep 15 - Stress vs Stressors and How It Lives in Your Body
Happy Sunday! This week I wanted to chat about differentiating between stress and stressors and being aware of the physical impact stress has on our body (often long lasting impacts). I've recently become more and more aware of this in my own life and wanted to share my experience. I think we often forget that we collectively went through a huge life-changing event in the last few years which undoubtedly created unprecedented stress in our lives. This, in addition to our regular day to day doses of stress lives in our bodies if we don't acknowledge them and can present itself later on in different ways. I've been learning on how to feel, acknowledge, and sit with my emotions and stress and I have to say it's not easy but it's worth it! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- As usual, google forms are always open for suggestions, stories, feedback, etc. I'd love to hear from you. S2 Ep 13 - "Loving Yourself Before Loving Others" & Love Languages
Hi Tater tots! In this episode I address the saying "you have to love yourself before loving others" and how much I think that is BS. I also think love languages are BS. Love and relationships are so intricate and complicated - in the most beautiful and unique way possible. There are so many layers and factors that play into everything and I think it's important to address that! Also, I'm not saying you shouldn't love yourself first - but I disagree that you can't love others if you don't love yourself. Listen to find out more on why :) I wanted to preface this episode saying it's another rambly one but honestly at this point aren't all of them just me rambling on about something and going on 8 million tangents? haha Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- As usual, google forms are always open for suggestions, stories, feedback, etc. I'd love to hear from you. S2 Ep 12 - Figuring It Out
Hi tater tots! Thank you for being patient with me as I fall a bit behind on posting schedules, and thanks for sticking around. This week I am just rambling about my life and my current "figuring it out" process. I hope that hearing me ramble on how I DON'T have it all figured out and how that is OKAY (!!) helps you feel a bit better about maybe something in your life you don't feel is quite "right" or - as I like to say 23124235 times in this episode - "figured out". I say this at the end but I'll say it now. If you have any topic suggestions, questions, or anything else you'd like to share please please send them my way so I have something else to talk about! I need a smol distraction from my everyday ponderings of my own life rn. Love you all! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- As usual, google forms are always open for suggestions, stories, feedback, etc. I'd love to hear from you. S2 Ep 10 - Sense of Belonging
Hello tater tots! My cousins dog ate my pop filter. So I’m so sorry for the sound quality. I will get a new one ASAP! For this episode I reflect on some of the feelings I’ve been having while travelling and feeling like I don’t belong in Korea. There’s much more to dive into on this topic but I wanted to just talk about how it’s been and how I’ve been feeling. Also I had to reuse an old mindful moment for todays episode - without the pop filter it sounded so bad so I had to improvise haha. Hope you had a great week! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- As usual, google forms are always open for suggestions, stories, feedback, etc. I'd love to hear from you. S2 Ep 9 - Flight Chats & Acknowledging Trauma Responses
Hello my beautiful Tater Tots! I had a thought, I also want to start talking you PODatoes. Is that too much. Okay maybe. I still like tater tot, but I also love Podatoes hahah. This is what happens when I get jet lagged. Anyway...  Another unexpected emotional one today - trigger warning I will be talking about trauma responses a bit, nothing traumatic will be shared but I know it can be a sensitive topic sometimes so please honour and respect how you are feeling on this topic before listening :) I wanted to share a thought I’ve been having over the last few months that I was able to finally articulate in session with a client recently. I love my job so so much and I am so incredibly grateful to have the privilege to be a part of some wonderful humans’ lives - including yours!! I find it so much easier to come up with articulate ways of putting things when I'm in session with a client.  I wanted to remind us all (myself included) that trauma responses do not mean we are broken. If we have days where we FEEL broken, which is totally valid and we can sit in that for a while and respect those feelings. However, having responses to trauma and having that be a part of our (sometimes daily) lives does not mean we have not moved on, or we are not healed, or we ARE broken in any way shape or form.  Thank you for listening, love you all!  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- As usual, google forms are always open for suggestions, stories, feedback, etc. I'd love to hear from you.
