If there’s one not-so-guilty pleasure that I have, it is enjoying a great glass of wine. The wine industry is so fascinating to me, yet seems so complex, and becoming a Sommelier sounds like a lot of hard work. Maybe in my next life that’ll be the path I take...but because my wine interest runs deep I am thrilled to have Sommelier, and restaurant owner, Jill Carnevale on this week's episode.
If there’s one word that sums up Jill, it is inspiring. Jill quit Wall Street, gave up what could have been a lot of money to follow her dreams of becoming a Sommelier at one of Aspen’s best restaurants and one of my favorites, Ellina. As Sommelier, Jill has curated an award winning global wine list over the past 10 years with over 1500 bottles to choose from. Fast forward to present day and Jill is now the current owner of Ellina.
Listen on to hear Jill’s journey of how she got to where she is now, what she learned from previous jobs and experiences, and how she is adapting to being a restaurant owner amidst a pandemic.
New restrictions on Aspen restaurants have been put in place since Jill and I recorded this episode. Indoor dining is not currently allowed in Pitkin County. To support Jill and Ellina, as well as other local restaurants, you can order take out and purchase gift cards.
I hope you enjoy the episode!
