Show notes
I invite guests to share personal stories about acts of leadership that help shape their lives. In Episode 69, Mark Clark talks about his motto. He then shares a story in which, through his chain of command, he is asked to do something unusual. Next, Mark advises us about job searching and using a cover letter.
As Mark might say, "Life is a gift and very short." He is an Ohio-born Indiana native who lives in North Carolina by choice. Mark is a lover of life and is passionate about recruiting and linking people with their purpose. He is a dad, papa, cyclist, and believer with the motto: Assume Positive Intent. When I worked with Mark at Lowe’s, his title was College & Military (Veteran) Recruiting Manager where he also managed the internship program. Currently, he is a Senior Recruitment Consultant at ALG Senior.
The story that Mark shares are about his motto, assume positive intent. In it, he talks about how a PepsiCo CEO talks about the phrase at a conference.
Mark shares a story in which he was asked to hire a specific intern. From his account, Mark shares some advice.
For those actively job searching, Mark asks us to consider a broader perspective about the recruiting process. He advises us to include cover letters in our applications. If people ask you to review their resume or curriculum vitae, consider Mark's advice.
