Although often ridiculed for its manners and dubious musical value, Eurovision typically attracts more than 100 million viewers each year and is considered Europe's largest cultural project, causing a stir. The number of participating countries has been steadily growing since the competition was founded in 1956, and is now not limited to Europe at all.
