The Kansas City ButcherHI – I’m Kelli Berens Brink and THIS is the True Crime IRL Murder Minute! Robert Berdella was a serial killer in Kansas during the late 1980’s and he was dubbed the Kansas City Butcher. He held at least six men captive for weeks, tortured them and killed them. He then chopped their bodies into small pieces and stuffed them into trash bags before disposing of them. He kept detailed notes on the murders of each of his victims which eventually helped police link all six murders to him. He wouldn't have been caught, if it hadn't been for his seventh potential victim – who was able to escape through a second-floor window of Berdella’s home. Berdella pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole in 1988, BUT, he died of a heart attack in prison just four years later, in 1992.
