Carey Foster appeared in the original TOS pilot, "The Cage," with Jeffrey Hunter as a character who ended up not making the final cut. However, she returned as a Starfleet officer clad in blue in the background of many episodes during the first season of the show.Foster's time in Star Trek was the next step in her relationship with Gene Roddenberry, her uncle, who had previously cast her in an episode of "The Lieutenant."
