She always felt burnt out trying to fit in travel around work. She now works remotely for an Edtech company so she can travel wherever she wants whenever she wants. My guest in this episode is Christa Knox. Having never left the US, in January of 2020 Christa packed her bags to travel for what was originally going to be six months. One pandemic, two and a half years, and 16 countries later, she has fallen in love with the world and has no plans on stopping. Christa's been working remotely for various software companies for over seven years and traveling internationally for 2.5 years. Erica Virvo Hackman is a community enthusiast, connector, and purposeful traveler. As an adult, Erica's lived in Qatar, rural Thailand, South Korea, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Zambia, and Costa Rica. Erica has been an integral part of Nomadic Matt's remote team since 2013. Since then she has spend large chunks of time working from Dubai, Qatar, Vietnam, Thailand, South Africa, Iceland, Germany, Jordan, and from a yoga retreat in Cambodia. In 2019, she helped create Nomadic Matt’s community, The Nomadic Network (otherwise known as TNN). Two years ago, TNN was born. Today, there are over 13,000 people in our community empowering one another, making friends with other travel lovers, and learning how to travel cheaper, better, longer, and more. She has experience planning in-person and virtual events, working with volunteers, and building a thriving community. Carrie Knowles is an author, journalist, artist, and speaker. She is the author of 8 books; four novels and four nonfiction. She also pens a regular column for Psychology Today called "Shifting Forward: A Wanderer's Musings". Carrie was named the Piedmont Laureate for Short Fiction in 2014. Her short stories have won more than 25 awards, including the Village Advocate Fiction Contest, the Blumenthal Writers & Readers Series, the North Carolina Writers Network Fiction Syndication and Glimmer Train’s Very Short Fiction Competition. She has been named a finalist in Glimmer Train competitions six times and was also a finalist in the Doris Betts Fiction Contest and received an honorable mention in the National Literary Awards. My guest today is Jash. She has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, but doesn't really use it! Since completing undergrad, she's been living abroad and traveling the world as a teacher. During 2020, she dedicated time to exploring and learning new skills so that she could figure out exactly what she wanted to do as a remote freelancer. In 2021 she made the transition into being a full time digital nomad.
