I have always loved working with children, and so I became a middle and high school science teacher. While I was happy teaching, my dream was to become a published writer.

My love for small children led me to become a professional nanny some years ago. I have also served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. For many years now, I have been writing children’s books that I hope to publish in the near future. 

My Grouch and Me was inspired by my niece Haley. We were trying to think of coping techniques and ways to deal with anger, disappointment, and anxiety. By changing our focus from the negative to the positive, we were able to achieve a happier and less stressful outcome. Haley thought of the happy net, and the story grew from there. -Kelly Clement
