] Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
-13] When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.” [13 Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”
] This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
a] We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.
] So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.
-3a] When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. 3 For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
-11] but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. 11 The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!
-7] For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. [7] His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!
