On Friday 24th January 1941, the Kent & Sussex Courier ran a small article reporting how residents in the small village of Steyning on the Sussex Downs were opposed to the burial of five Luftwaffe crew in their local churchyard. Despite the protests, the burials proceeded as planned. But who were they? And what became of their graves?
