Jenn and Laura remember the time that Laura got hit by a moped while on her bike in the Netherlands.  Bikes are not a staple in American culture  like they are in Dutch culture.  Laura hadn't ridden her bike regularly in the United States prior to her arrival.  She did the grocery shopping and traveled everywhere by bike. However, the weather, learning the Dutch biking rules, and a language barrier, created a perfect “newcomer” expat experience within the first month of arrival.
