On this week's episode of This is the Future, I profiled the life and work of Wangari Maathai of Kenya who became the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize and the first woman in East and Central Africa to become a Doctor of Philosophy.Wangari Maathai was an environmentalist, a politician and a political activist. She protested and went to prison for her beliefs. She went on to win a seat in parliament after she and other pro-democracy activists fought for democracy.
