PRN is an acronym for the Latin term “pro re nata,” which means “as the situation demands,” or simply, “as needed.” It is also interchangeable sometimes with the phrase “per diem” which is a Latin phrase that means “by the day”. Regardless if you are a full time, part time or PRN/per diem employee it’s important to know what you job includes (benefits like health insurance, PTO, 401(k), sick leave, vacation, short and long term disability, etc).
