On 28 August 1963 over 200,000 people took part in the historic March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Like many other representatives of the civil rights movement, Martin Luther King, Jr. addressed the large crowds that evening. King's speech was the final one that day. He told the masses about the unfulfilled promise of the Declaration of Independence to guarantee the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to all men. King also spoke of his dream, a detailed vision of what America will be like, once that promise is realized.
