With Morgoth having been defeated in the War of Wrath, the Men allied with the Elves of Beleriand are rewarded with an earthly paradise: the Island of Númenor. Yet over the course of a 3300 year history, the Númenoreans tragically discover that the soul of Man desires things that the natural world cannot provide.
