The Timber Bros are back in the shed for another yarn about all things timber, tools, projects, mistakes and the stuff we probably should have read the instructions for!

In this episode Plummo and Hazy dive into the world of Australian hardwoods with Jarrah – the deep red, tough and iconic Western Australian timber. From flooring and furniture to turning projects, they talk about why Jarrah has earned its reputation, the challenges of working with such a dense timber, and what they’d build if someone dropped a beautiful Jarrah slab on the shed floor.

The boys also get stuck into wood lathes as the Tool of the Week, chatting about everything from entry-level machines through to bigger setups, turning bowls, pens and the occasional projectile timber incident when things don’t quite go to plan!

Safety gets a serious look too, with a shed safety segment focused on dust masks and respiratory protection — because making sawdust is fun, but breathing it in isn’t. They discuss dust extraction, P2/N95 masks, workshop habits and why protecting your health is just as important as protecting your tools.

There’s plenty of classic Timber Bros banter along the way with “What Did Plummo Stuff Up This Week?”, where a nearly perfect pen project goes sideways at the last hurdle, and “What Did Hazy Buy That He Didn’t Need?”, featuring a very interesting retirement purchase involving a 3D printer and the endless possibilities of workshop gadgets. The boys explore how 3D printing is changing the woodworking game too — from custom jigs and dust extraction fittings to making workshop problems easier to solve.

They also put some gear to the test with a look at ceramic abrasives and sanding techniques, discussing why good sandpaper, patience and using the right grit sequence can make or break a finish. Plus, they tackle the bigger picture with a new Timber News segment covering sustainability, recycled timber, responsible sourcing and why every piece of timber has a story worth preserving.
