Stephen had a hard week in dental school, and in this episode of Teeth Time, he dives into the reason his week was such a challenge and how to overcome the various hardships dental school throws at the dental student. Today, Stephen talks about how various appointments in the clinic didn't go how he expected them to. He discusses failure and managing expectations. He dives into patient management, rapport building, and clinical tips that will help you avoid disaster in dental school. Dental school is not always an easy road. Often the road is bumpy and muddy. Dentistry can be a hard profession and not every week in dentistry will feel like a win. What is important is staying grounded and being thankful for the chance to be a dentist. Stephen is BACK with another episode of The Teeth Time Podcast OMGGGGG!!! In this episode, Stephen sits down alone to discuss what his life has been like as a D2 over the past few months. He gets into a description of the life balance he has found as both a dental student and content creator on Youtube.Importantly, in this episode, Stephen sets his expectations for D3 year straight. After concluding his second year of dental school, Stephen and his classmates will embark on a new journey treating live patients in a real dental clinic. In many regards, things will be going from 0 to 100 very quickly, and Stephen is here to discuss whether or not he is ready for this change. What goes into dental treatment in a dental office and how does this compare to what is expected of a dental student? Dr. Calvin Harris is a pediatric dentist in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Harris completed dental school and pediatric dental residency at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. During his residency, he received two additional years of specialized, hands-on training in preparation for meeting the unique needs of infants, children, and teens. This extensive training included working with children with special needs, sedation dentistry, and hospital- based dentistry at LeBonheur Children's Hospital and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He now works as a pediatric dentist at Pediatric Dental Care in Memphis.In this episode of Teeth Time, Stephen discusses the pediatric dental specialty in detail with Dr. Harris. Bart Voto is a D1 at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and he joins Stephen today to discuss his experiences as a pre-dental student, the importance of the DAT and how he prepared, his decision to attend Harvard for dental school, and how is NHSC scholarship has impacted his life and will shape his future. Stephen recently released a YouTube video that discussed the possible ways one could pay for dental school. The NHSC scholarship was one of the options discussed. Nick is a graduate of The University of Tennessee  and was recently accepted into the College of Veterinary Medicine at UT. Nick joins the podcast to talk with his brother about his unique journey as a pre-vet student. In this discussion, Nick and Stephen discuss pre-vet life, important experiences, the need to find your "Why?", admissions failures and successes, and so much more about the pre-vet experience. On Saturday November 20th, 2021, Stephen ran in the first half marathon of his life. Today's episode of Teeth Time is the full story. Stephen begins by describing his long-time relationship with running which was one that was not conducive to electively running in a half marathon. During the pandemic, however, Stephen's opinions on running changed, and, almost two years later, he reached the peak of his running career by completing the Nashville half marathon. Stephen details the ins and outs of half marathon prep, race morning, the race itself, and the aftermath of the massive run. He also looks ahead to the future of his physical fitness endeavors and toys with the idea of running a full marathon in the future. While this episode of Teeth Time does not cover dental school or dentistry directly, it details the passion of someone who uses running as an escape from these things. This episode is a testament to the achievements one can experience when they truly commit their mind, body, and spirit to a goal. Time to talk about a long run! It's Teeth Time!!

Ari Rezaei is the cofounder of DAT Bootcamp, the largest DAT prep resource in the country. On today's episode of Teeth Time, Ari joins Stephen to discuss the creation of DAT Bootcamp and how it has evolved into the modern-day Bootcamp.com, an online academic resource which serves to assist students through their entire professional education. Ari describes the process of working on building a website while also balancing his curriculum as a dental student at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.
