The door was left open for Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell to make up ground in the NASCAR points championship, but ultimately they couldn't capitalize. As William Byron broke through for his first victory of the 2026 season at Martinsville, his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson effectively locked up the Cup championship, leaving the weekend with a 67-point lead over Bell. Our resident NASCAR reporters Jeff Gluck and Jordan Bianchi were both in Martinsville, and they took to the airwaves after the race to discuss the tumultuous action, Byron's decisive victory and what Larson needs to do to lock things up next week at Homestead.
