In a world obsessed with self-definition, John shows us a different way—an identity rooted not in performance or approval, but in Christ himself. Through John the Baptist’s witness, we discover that true freedom comes not from creating meaning, but from pointing beyond ourselves to the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. As we behold Jesus, our false identities fall away and we find rest in a grace-secured identity that does not fluctuate with circumstance. This is the epiphany that changes everything: we are beloved children of God because Jesus has named us so.
