The NASCAR season is finally upon us as the Cup Series descended upon The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the second running of The Clash. Will Porter and Jacob Simpson are here to break down the on track action, as well as look ahead to what the future of the event may behold.

Before the races, cars hit the track for practice and qualifying. One car in particular, piloted by rookie Ty Gibbs, spontaneously combusted while running practice laps. Is this going to be a trend moving forward or was this incident isolated?

From the drop of the green flag for the heat races, there was evidence of more aggression from the field than we saw in 2022. Was this a product of experience with the car and the track being familiar to the teams? Or was there more urgency to make the main?

Beginning the day before in practice and qualifying, as the racing moved into the night, tires and track temperature would become main themes throughout the weekend. Did these things make any difference in the main event?

In the main, we saw two completely different segments: one tame, another chaotic. Apart from breaking down all the happenings on track, what would or even should change about the event moving forward?

And finally, all throughout the weekend, there were rumblings about the coliseum hosing a points race in the future. What would that look like logistically? Could it work? Would it even be a legitimate race?
