The Queer Cottage: Stories of Queer Domesticity

MKK
The Queer Cottage is a collaborative podcast spinoff of an online group created by Esa Sclafani. It celebrates all things queer and domestic, featuring an exploration of a different queer person’s home life in each episode. Some of us have kids, some don’t. Some are in houses, some in apartments. Some cook, some garden, some craft. Some love interior decorating, some love entertaining, some love organizing their budgets and routines. We’re focusing on first-person narratives of what queer domesticity looks and feels like, because so much of keeping a home in our culture is bound up in heteropatriarchal nonsense. The Queer Cottage pushes against that paradigm by exploring all the many and varied ways queer households choose to make their homes their own.
Episode 1: MKK
The first episode of The Queer Cottage is live! MKK talks about her life in NYC with her wife and kid. This episode's topics include: Budgeting, freelancing, parenting, city living, cooking (including mentions of fish, dairy, and bizarre toddler menu items), cleaning, art, cats, gender nonconformity, queer community, and, as always, queer domesticity.
