Description: On this episode, our Host and Immediate past Board President of BEST, Phylanice Nashe dives in with former Executive Director, Karen Vander Molen about this super successful criminal justice program called BEST, Building Entrepreneurs for Success in Tennessee. For the last 6 years BEST has taught business and entrepreneurial skills to incarcerated citizens and using cutting edge technology in the form of tablets to deliver content. BEST has graduated 99 students of which 52 men and women have been released and successfully re-entered back into society. BEST is successfully returning citizens to our communities and is reducing recidivism at a rate that beats both the national and state of TN’s recidivism rates. BEST has an 81% successful reentry rate, far exceeding the typical 54% rate for those leaving TN prisons.
