Show notes
On the show tonight, Joe begins as only we can do here at Bleacher Brothers and No Filter, playing “Stairway to 7-Eleven”, a parody of the iconic Led Zeppelin song for 7/11 day. Yeah, that gets Joe kicked off of Twitch or Kick or whatever streaming site, but not here on No Filter!

Joe begins with the All-Star Game. Joe’s giving updates throughout the game, so it will REALLY Joe is ADD/ADHD tonight! Joe mentions the recent history as there were questions and comments about the long AL winning streak over the last 10 years. Then Joe talks about the AL/NL uniforms. Joe prefers the traditional uniforms over the ASG one, but could be talked into a happy medium of the ASG tops with the typical jersey pants and hat.

Pat Fitzgerald was fired from Northwestern, and rightfully so. He’s the head coach, and he takes the fall whether he knows what’s going on with his team or not. But notes from the story gives clues that he knew what was going on with the hazing and possibly sexual assaults.

Bob Huggins: did he resign or not? He says no, West Virginia says yes. He wants his job back after caught driving drunk. WVU says we’re not taking you back. It’s an interesting case, but Joe thinks get the money and run before they fire with cause after the anti-gay slurs he mentioned back in May.

Hope you enjoyed Victor Wembanyama’s two games in the NBA Summer League, because he’s done for the summer. The Spurs pulled him after a good performance on Sunday and will get him ready for the season. It sucks, but Joe understands it’s about October and not July.

Then Joe promised a friend his thoughts on the NBA’s in-season tournament. Joe mistakenly thought in season tourney as in the FA Cup and US Open Cup when Adam Silver said based on European soccer. It didn’t dawn to him that Silver meant the UEFA Champions League. Joe’s going from “don’t like it” to “let’s see how this plays out” for an opinion. Joe may still not like it, but he thinks we could get a really goofy matchup for the championship in Las Vegas in December.

Alvin Kamara pled no contest in Vegas. Though he won’t go to jail, he’ll pay $100k for the hospital bills and do community service. Kamara is still subject to discipline from the league, as Joe relates to him getting into trouble wearing his employer’s shirt. But the difference is that Kamara is more well known as an athlete and doesn’t have that opportunity to blend with the public like I can.

The MLBPA wants to soften the pitch clock rules. Rob Manfred said that is probably unlikely. Joe says no games have been decided yet in the regular season (thankfully) and players are used to the clock by now. J

oe shows everyone the ultimate CFL bad beat. If you had Edmonton on the money line last week, I gave you one of those. Apparently an Elks kick returner forgot about rouges in the CFL. Rouges? Just listen, because Joe explained it the best he could as an American football fan.

And then Joe gives two soccer picks (yes, soccer) and tells you to also parlay them in a 2-team parlay!
