There's a mass buyout that's been happening in veterinary medicine by giant conglomerates. You've probably noticed since 25% of primary care vets are now corporate owned and 75% of specialty and emergency vets are corporate owned. 

There's really no upside for anyone but the people at the top of the pyramid of these conglomerates.
