The seal is one of them parables that are understood in different ways and we're here for it! And it's an important one because there is a specific number of people - 144,000 - that the book of Revelation says is sealed. We can say that this is a literal number because there is a great multitude that follows (this all goes down in Rv 7, fyi) and without it being an exact number, we wouldn't know where the count for the great multitude begins.
