Brent Draper is now famously known for being a bloke, on Masterchef that on National TV decided to leave the series to protect his mental health.
Whilst the issues weren't directly about Masterchef, it was his courage to open up about his struggles and put his mental health above the competition that literally resonated around the world.
Join us with this chat to discuss getting out of a "rut" planning and communication with your partner, opening up about mental health challenges and how to address them and how we can evolve our culture to have better impact on Men's mental health.
At The Modern Bloke we aim for 2 main things.
- Showcasing everyday Aussie blokes doing great things and understanding the importance of the impact of being relatable.
- Encouraging Men to say "I'm Showing Up" as a motivation to both internally motivate them to do something challenging which will benefit them and externally to showcase what a bloke can do.
Brent's actions highlights exactly that, he represents a QLD bloke with a wicked beard, a qualified boilermaker, husband, father, surfer and craft beer lover who "showed up" by being open about his mental health struggles on national TV and showed other blokes that they can too!
