<p>Don Hedrick has steadily climbed the ranks in the Rapid City police department, starting as a patrol officer in 2002 and ultimately being appointed as chief of police on August 17 of this year.</p>
<p>He was named a Bloomberg Fellow in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where he is working on his Ph.D. in public health. In addition, he serves on the boards of a number of organizations in the Rapid City community.</p>
