UNK chemistry major, Samantha Rau, is conducting actual hands-on DNA research on campus. Alongside her mentor, Dr. Kristy Kounovsky-Shafer, Samantha is working on analyzing long strands of DNA more effectively. It's one example of how UNK students get to participate in actual lab research, putting their knowledge and understanding to use in real situations. In this episode, Samantha's enthusiasm for her work shines through as she discusses the details with host Jon Dockweiler.  

Play ball! There is so much that goes into producing a live sporting event. The business of sports is a booming industry (aside from the unexpected COVID-19 setbacks and challenges). It takes a team of professionals behind the scenes to create a memorable fan experience. In this episode of The Loper Experience, host Jon Dockweiler visits with UNK senior Addison Jones. Addison is a sales and operations intern with the Western Nebraska Pioneers baseball team and has a great message for students looking for their own opportunities. 

Mila Serefko is the current president of LPAC (Loper Programming and Activities Council). She describes her hands-on experience of planning and organizing events for UNK students. Although COVID-19 created challenges for in-person events, Mila talks about finding creative ways to provide a quality campus experience, working with staff mentors, and having a heart to serve.
