<p>Sometimes a great director and a great actor can be foiled by a narcissistic producer who is obsessed with the idea of “picturization.” This week we discuss the 1940 Alfred Hitchcock adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca. The protagonists leave much to be desired but the villains – cracker jack each and every one, including the one we never see.
