Cosmological Theories and Cosmic Structure
Govert Schilling, Part Two: Schilling explores cosmological theories and modern particle physics searches for dark matter. Following Albert Bosma’s radio astronomy observations of neutral hydrogen in outer galactic disks, scientists firmly established that dark matter must be nonbaryonic. Schilling explains why the Big Bang’s transition from a smooth early cosmos to today’s clumpy structure rules out fast-moving relativistic neutrinos in favor of slow Cold Dark Matter. He details ongoing experimental efforts to detect Weakly Interacting Massive Particles using the Large Hadron Colliderat CERN and underground laboratory detectors, alongside advanced IllustrisTNG computer simulations that model cosmic structure evolution driven by unseen mass.
