A former emergency room physician and intensive care unit attending, he built outdoor test-and-treat centers when his county became the epicenter of Southern California's outbreak, saw three to four hundred patients a day, and developed a treatment protocol around monoclonal antibodies, budesonide, oxygen, anti-inflammatories, and repurposed drugs.He walks through the first 1,800 patients and what he says happened to the ones treated before day seven of illness.
