I was driving home one afternoon and was worn out from the day.
I turned down my street, and I found kids playing basketball near our speed bump.
I stopped, and I waited, and they glared at me as if I had done something wrong.
They took their sweet time, but the kids slowly parted, and I passed through.
As I watched one of them score in my rearview mirror, I couldn’t help but stare at my salt and pepper hair. In that moment, all I could think of was that kid was me 20-some years ago.
And if they’re lucky, and I hope they are, they’ll do the same for someone else down the road.
What about you?
