In this episode, we sit down with Mykala Perry, a college track star who originally dreamed of attending a large university. But after visiting NCA&T, she knew it felt like home—and it’s been one of the best decisions she’s ever made.

Mykala opens up about balancing the demands of being both a student and a track and field athlete. She shares her lifelong love of track, how it has shaped her, and the joy she now finds in the sport. Interestingly, she reveals that the 400 relay, once her least favorite event, is now her strongest and most beloved.

Beyond athletics, Mykala talks about her academic path. Initially pursuing pediatric medicine, she eventually switched to biology with plans to attend nursing school. Now, with graduation approaching, she’s set on becoming a travel nurse, driven by the desire to live life on her own terms while giving back to her parents for all they've done.

Though her passion for track remains, Mykala is realistic about her future. If the opportunity to run professionally arises, she’ll chase it, but her main focus is on preparing for a successful nursing career.

I can’t wait to see what’s next for Mykala!
