Prejudice isn't binary. It's nuanced, complex. Oppression isn't singular, it encompasses many factors. Intersectionality recognizes the confluence of challenges facing those who fit into multiple minority categories. It makes sense but it's often overlooked. That's why we invited author/activist Ijeoma Oluo to visit The High Bar to raise the bar for...intersectionality.

For four seasons, The High Bar reached nearly 3 million homes in Washington state via KBTC and UWTV and many more via those stations' websites and our own (http://thehighbar.tv), picking up an Emmy®-nomination for Best Interview Program and winning a Gold National Communicator Award for Best News-Entertainment program. 

On each episode of The High Bar, an artist, author, activist or filmmaker joins host Warren Etheredge to raise a toast to and raise the bar for a subject about which she or he is passionate, whether it be Jodie Foster examining mental health, Gary Oldman decoding trust, Miranda July exploring connectivity, Tavis Smiley & Dr. Cornel West championing economic justice, Top Chef's Gail Simmons extolling the virtues of eating professionally, comedian/curmudgeon Lewis Black reviving theater or legendary sci-fi writer William Gibson demystifying atemporality. To date, The High Bar has welcomed over 100 guests.

For our fifth season, The High Bar is rebooting as a podcast under the supervision of award-winning producer Tina Nole, with episodes recorded in Los Angeles, Seattle and New York.  Guests slated to appear include: David Arquette, George Karl, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Lindy West, David Duchovny, Walter Murch and Top Chef’s Brooke Williamson.
