Despite being told several times that he was just a hypochondriac, my father was diagnosed with a mass tumor cluster. He had an experimental surgery in the ‘90s that involved extensive reconstruction of his stomach, pancreas, liver, and other organs. This diagnosis of ganglion tumors landed him as a case study in the New England Journal of Medicine. Told he would not live through the surgery; one doctor (Oncologist Dr. Frank) believed he could save him.
