Today, we visit the story of Jonah the prophet, who was called by God to go to Nineveh. He didn't go and consequently ended up in the belly of a great fish, rather helpless- but not hopeless. Jonah consecrated his life to God while in the great fish and is given a second chance by God. While our culture may follow closely to the rule of "three strikes and you're out," our God has a heart of forgiveness, who loves us even when we aren't at our best. Often times it's not on our good days, where everything is going right, that we feel the power of God's love and grace. Often it's in our bad days when we come to appreciate His love for us the most.

Shake any family tree and you never know what kind of people might fall out. Let's face it; we all have an uncle or a cousin we whisper about behind closed doors. We all have a relative or two we try to avoid at family gatherings. No surprise there. But here's something you may not know. Jesus had a few shady characters in his family as well. Actually, he had some relatives that make your most wayward cousin look like a saint. In An Unexpected Christmas, we'll take a look at a few of these colorful characters and the role they play in the Christmas story.
