Today's topic on the Good World is our nagging desire to be liked by others (family, friends, and society at-large). All too often this almost never-ending desire forces us to conform — such as studying the college major that pays well, staying at a job we deeply hate, or avoiding a creative endeavor that could backfire, among other examples. I've been there throughout my life and it's likely that you have to.But what I've come to learn through trial and error is the more you seek validation from others, the less you actually get it. It's another one of life's great paradoxes. But it doesn't have to be this way. In this episode, I cover what it takes to not conform and actually listen to your inner self.
