Enjoy Hearing a View Different Than Mine
Fifth generation Florida native here, family’s from Bartow and Wauchula . Content is great. The guys have good radio voices and you’ll notice they actually sort of apologize when they raise an absurdly unpopular notion like gender curriculum in kindergarten. I think they are more like the old Democrats who (don’t stone me!) really weren’t that bad. My grandmama was one. It’s the Jimmy Carter type democrat. I think they are as annoyed with all the CRT and climate “mania” as everyone else but they have to toe the line for the liberal police from Tally and S Fla. these guys are good, give ‘em a chance!

Too political
Too much political bias to be useful. I prefer the Old Florida Now podcast since it’s straight history.

Hard to trust with bad
I really enjoy some of the content but it is hard (despite what other reviewers say because they sit on the same side of the fence) to trust that a fair representation is being given because it becomes obvious that everyone leans to one side of the political spectrum on the show. It’s really hard to take seriously when silly media terms like “climate denier” are used to brand people with different viewpoints. Wish I had better things to say, how about no political bias, at least give both sides of an argument, and don’t use dumb labels for people that are meant to divide.

Great content but the sound quality is not so great sometimes
The content is incredible because it is difficult to find the detailed Florida history anywhere else. It is clear that Kartik spends a lot of time on research. However, often in his episodes I can hear him typing and doing other things while the guest speaker is talking. I am appalled that he would do this while someone is speaking because it appears by him working on something else, he is not listening. Additionally, he should not be publishing the episode if other background sounds are heard. Please Kartik--- listen to the noises you are making BEFORE publishing. It would make your podcast far more professional. Thank you for all of your hard work on the content and just bought your book on the American Revolution.

Great content! But poor audio
Fascinating and nuanced telling of Florida history. I’m a Floridian and I didn’t know this history at all! Those complaining that this show is “too political” are simply not comfortable with history. Good luck finding an alternative to coddle your fragile worldview 💕 this ain’t Fox News.

Disappointing
I am a 6th generation Floridian who was so very looking forward to learning and enjoying this podcast. Unfortunately, like everything else these days. The hosts obvious political bias and commentary permeates everything. Very disappointing. C. Hodges

Excellent Content, Frustrating Presentation
This is an informative and interesting podcast in regard to its subject focuses and historical content. I love the locally-focused nature of some stories, and the attention to clarifying common historical misconceptions. Even so, the presentation of the content can be agonizing to listen to, mainly due to the bizarrely long, mid-sentence pauses in narration. As a listener, I find it not only distracting, but highly irritating when following a story or commentary, and the host suddenly goes silent in the middle of a thought, only to continue the thought after about 4 to 8 seconds, as if an audio glitch, or break in cellular service occurred. This could easily be fixed with better editing, which in my opinion, would do wonders for efficacy and enjoyability for listeners.

Very politically biased
Very politically biased
Miami Bassist
Very mediocre & partisan
I’ve been traveling to Florida over the years, so I decided to listen to some podcasts to learn more about Florida’s history. I’ve been listening to this podcast periodically & it’s been ok, though very dry, but has certainly become political too. While listening to episode 232, they comment about not getting “too political”, but then go on to unfairly criticize all Republicans in some negative aspects that aren’t true nor fair. I’ll stop following now, I’m looking for accurate history, not political slants…

Enjoy the history but not the personal political views
Most of the podcasts are some great learning experiences of our great, butcrazy at times, state. I’ve learned so much listening but it seems some political views sometimes comes out. Of course everyone can believe what they want but this isn’t supposed to be a political show. Keep That out of it and it would be perfect. You must know things that were done in the past cannot be held accountable to the people of today that had nothing to do with it. People and society evolve.

Native American tribes of Florida
I agree with this review before mine about putting more Native American history. It would be cool to learn about the different tribes of Florida. I can’t find a podcast on it. Otherwise, love this podcast so much!

Losing Interest
Have historically enjoyed the podcast. The recent pivot to denigrate anything and anyone related to those of European descent is noticeable and has me listening less and less. In diversifying the subjects discussed, which is enjoyable, one need not demonize others who are an indelible part of the State’s history. While it may be fashionable to take this tact, failing to do so ignores the struggle and contributions of thousands of Floridians and alienates listeners.

Fairly objective
Thank you for a fairly objective view of Florida history. Not an easy path to follow these days. The utube travelogues are also worth a look.

Florida woman enjoys podcast
As a young(ish) liberal born and raised in Florida I was so happy to learn about this podcast. The public education system did little to teach me about the history of my state, so listening in has satisfied so much of my curiosity about the inner workings of the state. I do wish more time would be spent expanding on subjects and not just glossed over with comments like ‘I think everyone listening knows who Mr X is’.

Would love more episodes on Indian/Native histories
I opened this podcast looking for some history on Florida’s Native American peoples. There is only one episode; on the Seminole wars. Please add more, there is so much pre-settler history to explore.

Just ok
Sometimes interesting content marred by horrid production quality that makes this tough to listen to.

Love it!
How about an episodes on Richard Stone or Jack Eckerd?

Misses the mark
Too much personal politics, not enough facts and stories.

Interesting
Just moved to Florida and it definitely helps me get my bearings. Robert needs to fix his audio. It’s kind of hard to make out what he says sometimes.

Sound quality issues
This podcast has a lot of potential and a lot of great information, but the sound quality almost makes me not want to listen. One guy is loud as his sound is good and the other guy is too quiet to the point that you can’t always understand him. Plus one of them sounds like he’s either eating or working out or maybe he’s sick because he’s breathing so heavy that it sounds like a creeper call. Please please fix these issues. They predated covid so you can’t blame it on that.

Informative
I learned a lot from this. Obscure interesting stuff.

Liberal Bias At Its Worse
Plenty of discussion that has absolutely nothing to do with Florida. Hosts pander to the left and show obvious disdain for their president. It’s really sad they cannot control themselves and put out a non biased true history podcast. The lack of research and knowledge for current topics is obvious. Most discussions relate to central Florida, which wasn’t even a major city until after Disney arrived.

Very informative
Relocated to Jacksonville Florida last year and was so surprised by the culture. The Florida history Podcast has really helped me understand the dynamics of North vs South Florida. The only complaint I have is the volume control. One of the guys voices is so quiet like he’s not speaking directly into the microphone. The volume goes from loud with one voice to barely audible with other voice. Makes it difficult to listen to while in my office!

Very informative
As a new Floridian (arrived here in 2015) with an interest in public administration/elected office at the local/state level in the future I think it’s really important to know the history. I scoured the podcast list until I came across your show and I’ve been very impressed. Keep it coming!
