From my culture the old men especially grand fathers shared from their experience and that of others with their grand children. 
The same was shared at the a fire place at the homestead. It's always great to share some wisdom accumulated over the years from my life and from reading books. At the fire place we get to share and enlighten each other as we grow. Karibuni that's welcome in swahili.
