James Mann, a local historian, independently offers tours at Ypsilanti's Highland Cemetery, a nationally registered historic site. During the tour, Mann points out the graves of many local heroes, from Dr. Ruth Gerry, M.D, an early settler to Ypsilanti and well-respected doctor, to Alonzo Miller, a fire chief who allegedly haunts the Ypsilanti Firehouse Museum.
This season’s tours take place from 7 to 9 pm from now until Oct. 31.Tickets are $10, and registration for the event is online. The Highland Cemetery is located at 943 N River St. in Ypsilanti. You can read more about the cemetery on their website.
