Deep Cuts Vol. 5 was created with Friday or Saturday evening cocktails in mind. Take yourself back to the prohibition era and a more decadent age with these funky, sexy, deep, soulful and upbeat sounds. It’s the perfect soundtrack to starting your weekend in style…grab a cocktail (or four) and get your groove on with DLite’s Deep Cuts. 85 minutes and 19 tracks all with one common purpose: helping you gear down in style. Whatever your stresses, melt them away.
Great for your Friday wind down with a bottle of wine, your Saturday night warm-up, or as your very own Sunday Recovery Session. It’s a great collection of genres and sounds all geared to being the soundtrack for your weekend. The mix contains some of my all time favourites and some amazing new sounds so I hope you enjoy listening as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together.

EDX has been one of my favourite DJs/Producers for as long as I can remember. This might sound a bit strange but I’m not exactly sure why he’s been a favourite. I think it’s because he’s not the biggest name, the flashiest artist, the biggest selling DJ or the most outspoken. I admire that he just does his job in the background and excels at it. His sound is unique. It covers so many genres it's tough to pin down just one. It's a solid helping of deep house, progressive, proper house, chill, and vocal house music. Although most of his music is around 128bpm he still manages to take it to deep, funky, moving, nostalgic, and sometimes dark places. He has a signature but understated bass line that somehow alternates between getting you moving and taking you to a peaceful place – and sometimes doing both.
In this Essential EDX mix I’ve included my favourite EDX tracks but more importantly my favourite EDX remixes because that’s where his best work is. As you can see from the track listing he’s worked with and supported some of the biggest names in dance music in the past decade. Enjoy this sampling of EDX!
Casa Grande (Original mix) – EDX
Fantasy (EDX remix) – Nadia Ali
Shy Shy (Extended Vocal mix) – EDX
Breakwater (EDX Ibiza Sunrise remix) – Funkagenda
Breathin’ (Extended Vocal mix) – EDX
Weapon (EDX Acapulco At Night remix) – Cazzette
Lotta Lovin’ (EDX Miami Sunset remix) – Sucker DJs
Times Like These (EDX Indian Summer remix) – Albin Myers
Angel On My Shoulder (EDX Belo Horizonte At Night remix) – Kaskade
Back There (EDX Dubai Skyline mix) – Calippo
Say Yeah (EDX Ibiza Sunrise remix) – Yves Larock ft. Jaba
What A Wonderful World (EDX Vocal mix) – Axwell & Bob Sinclar ft. Ron Carroll
Mirage (EDX 5un5hine remix) – Passenger 10
Don’t Stop Dancing (Extended mix) – Kaskade & EDX ft. Haley

Deep, dark, dirty, vocal, sweaty, sexy house music. I have a hard time expressing what I consider the perfect house music, but this comes close. This episode has what I think is the perfect mix of sounds for a cold winter Friday night and a dance floor that is dark, pulsing and determined.
It’s been almost 5 months since I posted the two part ‘Deviate’ mixes in July…so much has happened since, but one thing stays constant: My love of this music, this sound and the way it will ALWAYS make me move. I’m thankful I get to share it with all of you. Get your dancin’ shoes ready and let it burn…

I really wanted this episode to reflect the true nature of Spring: hope, awakening, energy, a promise of summer adventures to come, longer days, finally feeling the heat of the sun again after a long winter, anticipation and a re-birth.
Digging through the crates of music trying to find a sound that matched ‘that’ feeling it suddenly hit me: Indie/Nu Disco. Hits the sweet spot. Bingo. Funky and soulful, it evokes all of those happy Spring time emotions, gets you up and shakin’ off that winter rust, all while supplying you with that re-invigoration you’ve been CRAVING. SO…melt away the snow, frost, wind and ice. DEFROST with DLite’s Spring Sessions. Let’s Go!

Welcome to the eagerly anticipated Volume 4 of DLite’s Deep Cuts! For this episode we go back to the origins of the Deep House sound. We go back to the 80’s and 90’s to get a taste of the ever present influences of soul, funk and jazz music. Of course the awesome bass lines remain, and the melodies bring a smooth and stylish vibe to this amazing genre. You can always feel the touches of Chicago house, early disco and the loveable 80’s synths. This was one of my favourite mixes to create so I hope you have as much fun listening as I did in creating. Great for your Saturday night warm-up, late night kick back, midweek work session or as your very own Sunday recovery session. Enjoy all the talent and unique sounds assembled in this mix!
