In the spring of 2010, 20-year-old Kyle Flerchinger was just a guest in Yakima, Washington, visiting friends and planning a future with his fiancée. He wasn't a gang member. He wasn't looking for trouble. He was simply standing in a backyard, smoking a cigarette, when a stray bullet from a confrontation a block away changed everything.
In this episode, we look back at a case that the Yakima Police Department calls "the ultimate bad luck." We explore the life of a young man from Orofino, Idaho, known for his love of the outdoors and his generous spirit—a spirit that lived on through organ donation. We also discuss the ongoing search for justice and the plea from detectives for witnesses to finally find the courage to step forward.
