A weekly comedic podcast in which two massive film buffs countdown a topic from 10-1 while throwing shade at the other's list.
Fatman review
This week the boys review their first (and let's face it, probably ONLY) Christmas film for the season, Fatman. This oddity stars Mel Gibson as a gritty Santa, and Walton Goggins as a hitman who is hired to take him out. Hilarity and gun-play ensue! ... Eventually.   One of the guys loves this weird film from the Nelms Brothers, while the other finds it lacking in many departments, especially compared to their previous film, Small Town Crime.   Find out which side of the ledger you fall on, as The Countdown continues ...   Time Stamps: Fatman SPOILER-FREE Review : 0:00 - 9:27 Fatman SPOILER-FILLED Discussion: 9:27 - 18:00 Final Thoughts Including Potential Spoilers: 18:00 - 18:52   Hit up the CC Radio Network that The Countdown is a proud part of and follow the headers to the other great shows at https://ccradio.com.au/countdown/ Want to gain access to all manner of additional Countdown content? BONUS: Our Favourite Films of All Time 70-61 (w/ Sam from Movie Reviews in 20 Q's)
The countdown of Paul's favourite films of all time is back! This time he is joined from the man across the ditch, and one of the best Kiwis going round, Sam from the Movie Reviews in 20 Q's Podcast.  Sam opted to discuss his 70th to 61st favourite films ever made, thinking he could have a giggle about Number 69, but in actual fact, making it extremely hard to order his lists ...    Will this be the first time there is a crossover of the same movie with the ten films discussed? And can Sam a few extra copies of his brand new novel, Compliance by doing this guest gig? (Check it for yourself at https://www.samhurley.net/.)  Who knows? But whatever happens there's bound to be some great films discussed, as The Countdown continues ...   Please thank Sam for coming on the show (and agonising over the order of his 100 favourite films) by checking out his and show at Movie Reviews in 20 Q's. Top 10 Thrillers of the 90s
Countdown #295   This week the boys go back to the 90s to talk a genre they both love: Thrillers! Wayne, of course, takes said discussion down less than savoury roads (even Paul is lost for words over some of his efforts this week), while Paul bravely drops Basic Instinct from consideration and you can hear the pain in his voice throughout the rest of the Ep :P   Who will have the quirkiest choice on their list? Does Wild Things get a mention? And, at the end of the day, who gives David Fincher more love?   Learn the answers to all these questions and more, as The Countdown continues ...   Hit up the CC Radio Network that The Countdown is a proud part of and follow the headers to the other great shows.   Want to gain access to all manner of additional Countdown content? Freaky review
This week Wayne feels blind-sided that he watched a (comedy-) horror, while Paul feels blind-sided by Wayne's inability to appreciate quality cinema. Those are the hot-takes from the guys' review of Freaky - a November surprise from Blumhouse and writer-director, Christoper Landon.   Will Wayne give Vince Vaughan any love for his role? And how will he react when the inevitable Negatron sound byte gets dropped on him?   Learn the answers to these questions and more as The Countdown continues ...   Freaky SPOILER-FREE Review : 0:00 - 11:20 Freaky SPOILER-FILLED Discussion: 11:20 - 17:33 Final Thoughts Including Potential Spoilers: 17:33 - 18:41   Hit up the CC Radio Network that The Countdown is a proud part of and follow the headers to the other great shows at https://ccradio.com.au/countdown/ Want to gain access to all manner of additional Countdown content? Top 10 Phoned In Film Performances
Countdown #294   This week the guys go to town on some lazy efforts from your favourite actors and actresses. From stars of the 70s all the way through to modern day cinema, no one is spared as Paul & Wayne take aim at the very laziest of performances where the persons in question were clearly just wanting to collect a pay cheque as if it was 3:30pm on a Friday afternoon and they were done for the week.   Thrill as the lads reveal some very similar choices late in their lists; gasp as Wayne doesn't react to shade being thrown at Batman; and marvel at Paul's impeccable Michael Caine impression...   This one has it all folks - including an especially liberal use of the C word. Find out just how liberal as The Countdown continues ...   Hit up the CC Radio Network that The Countdown is a proud part of and follow the headers to the other great shows.   Want to gain access to all manner of additional Countdown content? Truth Seekers review
This week the boys take on Amazon's Truth Seekers, written by and starring Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. They were hoping for The Real Ghostbusters, but they got the Ghostbusters with the gorilla, and neither made it past the third episode.   Make of that what you will, but this is the shortest review in The Countdown's history, which says a whole heck of a lot.     Spoilers from 8:00 onwards.   Hit up the CC Radio Network that The Countdown is a proud part of and follow the headers to the other great shows at https://ccradio.com.au/countdown/ Want to gain access to all manner of additional Countdown content? Top 10 Direcotrial Debuts REDUX (w/ Jason from Binge Movies: Movie Reviews and Rankings)
Countdown #293   This week the boys are stoked to welcome first time guest to a Countdown, Jason from Binge Movies: Movie Reviews and Rankings! Paul has darkened the Binge Movies' doorstep many times, so it was only appropriate to return the favour.   The topic was one Wayne and Paul did many years ago, but to capitalise on Jason's encyclopedia film knowledge, it was decided to do a REDUX of the Top 10 Directorial Debuts. Paul and Wayne's lists have changed drastically in three or so years, while Jason goes full film nerd, and in the process, becomes transfixed by Wayne's charm and charisma, making Paul into an awkward third wheel ...   Will Jason go full Wayne? Can Wayne this week be trusted to make all selections on brief? And just what has Steven Seagal done now?   Learn the answers to all these questions and more, as The Countdown continues ...   Hit up the CC Radio Network that The Countdown is a proud part of and follow the headers to the other great shows.   Want to gain access to all manner of additional Countdown content? Borat Subsequent Moviefilm review
This week Paul is excited to check out a sequel 14 years in the making, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, while Wayne - given he is the comedy guy - is oddly less excited to do the same.   What is Wayne's issue? Does Paul's positivity survive the film's length? And how many people does Sacha Baron Cohen offend and/or make look like a fool?   Learn the answers to all these questions and more as The Countdown continues ...   Borat 2 SPOILER-FREE Review : 0:00 - 8:07 Borat 2 Discussion: 8:07 - 20:51 Final Thoughts Including Potential Spoilers: 20:51 - 21:44   Hit up the CC Radio Network that The Countdown is a proud part of and follow the headers to the other great shows at https://ccradio.com.au/countdown/ Want to gain access to all manner of additional Countdown content? Top 10 US Presidential Films
Countdown #292   This week The Countdown goes topical as this Ep drops on the day of the 2020 US Election. So Paul & Wayne decided to jump on that bandwagon by talking the Top 10 US Presidential Films (for which they should have thanked and totally forgot to Chris O'Neill for the stellar idea - sorry Chris!)   Of course this is a pretty loose brief, so Wayne immediately goes in a weird direction, which gets's Paul's goat, resulting in incredulity, umbrage and NSFW language, but it all culminates in Wayne's brain shutting down mid-Ep and Paul genuinely fearing for his co-host for a few moments.   Find out what that triggers that moment, along with a bunch of random facts about films with presidents (mostly) in them, as The Countdown continues ...   Hit up the CC Radio Network that The Countdown is a proud part of and follow the headers to the other great shows.   Want to gain access to all manner of additional Countdown content? The Trial of the Chicago 7 review
For this week's feature, Paul & Wayne hit the courtroom for some drama in the form of Aaron Sorkin's The Trial of the Chicago 7. This based on a true story Netflix release initially ptompts the guys to have a ten minute debate about whether a) films exist purely to entertain and b) Sorkin scripts contain realistic dialogue, before they finally get down to business.   Does this one deliver for Netflix? Is Frank Langella the greatest venerable actor doing the rounds at the moment? And does Yahya Abdul-Mateen II make up for his abominably bad performance in Aquaman?   Learn the answers to all these questions and more as The Countdown continues ...     The Trial of the C7 SPOILER-FREE Review : 0:00 - 16:18 The Trial of the C7 SPOILER-FILLED Discussion: 16:18 - 24:27 Final Thoughts Including Potential Spoilers: 24:27 - 25:00   Hit up the CC Radio Network that The Countdown is a proud part of and follow the headers to the other great shows at https://ccradio.com.au/countdown/Want to gain access to all manner of additional Countdown content?
