In the year 1959 Volvo made three point seat belt. Company’s first chief safety engineer Nils Bohlin invented this design and patented in US. Later this design was made patent free and was available to other vehicle manufacturers. Volvo mentioned instead of making profits from this design number of lives can be saved by making it available to others.
