Meet Jessica, a mama of three that enjoys her beautiful home of Salt Spring Island, Canada through hobbies such as running, hiking, and gardening. Upon the healthy delivery of her first child, it was discovered that there was a velamentous cord which is an abnormal insertion of the umbilical cord into the placenta. During her second pregnancy, the rare occurrence of sequential valementous cord was revealed during an ultrasound but Jessica remained hopeful due to the success of her previous birth. Take a listen to learn what transpired when Jessica went in to give birth to Eli and the instant coping method she chose because of her experience growing up with the trauma of losing a brother to SIDS.
Jessica is the author of the children's book "Some Babies Can't Stay" that is for siblings of babies that have died, available on Amazon, and a portion of proceeds are donated to Baby's Breath Canada.
