Key Points

The story of redemption is a love story culminating in the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

Jesus has already paid the ultimate bride price, His life.

Many are called, but few are chosen: the invitation is open to all, both good and bad.

The proper wedding garment is the righteousness of Christ, not our own good works.

Without the garment of His righteousness, there is judgment and outer darkness.

The Lord’s Supper is a foretaste of the wedding feast, a sacred reminder of the covenant.

We are betrothed to Christ now and called to live holy, faithful, and fruitful lives as we await His return.

The invitation remains open today: “Come!” The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.”

Discussion

Pastor Bob described the gospel as a wedding invitation. How does viewing salvation as an invitation change the way you think about your relationship with Jesus?

In the parable of the wedding feast, many were invited but made excuses. What excuses sometimes keep people from fully saying “yes” to Jesus? What excuses have you made?

The only proper wedding garment is the righteousness of Christ. How does this truth free you from trying to earn God’s favor? How does it affect the way you live your life?

The Lord’s Supper is a foretaste of the Marriage Supper. What does taking communion mean to you in light of this bigger picture?

The bride is called to make herself ready. What does it look like practically for us to live holy and faithful lives while waiting for Christ’s return?

Pastor Bob shared that many are called but few are chosen. How should this reality affect the way we share the invitation with others?

Jesus says repeatedly, “Come.” Is there any area of your life right now where the Holy Spirit is inviting you to come closer to Him?
