Ancient idea that past sin of a person, even in the womb, or sin of parents, etc., resulted in misfortune down the line. Jesus heals a man born blind, makes clay, puts on the man’s eyes, tells him to go to the Pool of Siloam to wash the mud off. The result is the blind man sees. Trouble arose for both the healed man and the Healer since the event took place on a Sabbath day, and no work, including making the mud. A confrontation then arises between the religious authorities, the healed man, his parents, and of course, Jesus.
