Jesus said that unless one eats the flesh of the Son of Man and drinks His blood no life will be in him or her. The hearers took Him literally and complained it was a “hard saying.” Jesus then urges them not to take offense. But they will believe when they witness His ascension, thus proving His resurrection following His crucifixion. No, they would not then be offended at Him. And if they walk away from Him now, they will miss out. Jesus makes it clear that no one will believe in Him unless it is granted by the Father, a clear reference to the great truth of election.
