One summer day in 2018, D. Arthur got an offer to join the recruiting team at a hot start up with some former colleagues from Google. It would be their first big move up in the corporate world after college. Later that same day, though, they got a phone call that no one ever wants to pick up: their mother had Stage 4 lung cancer. This is the story of how D. declined the job offer they’d been waiting for, packed up a full life in Brooklyn, and began what would become a three-year hiatus from full-time work to care for their mom in upstate New York.We get into the realities of pressing “pause” on life as you know it, the creative projects that kept D. afloat during such a difficult time, and the unexpected relationship that changed everything.Plus: What would D. have done differently before they took time off?Follow along on Instagram:@janelabrahami@theaudaciouscareerKeep up with D.:@babydmarieD’s websiteApply for https://bit.ly/3wSbmtiSubscribe to the weekly newsletter:janelabrahami.substack.com--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/janelabrahami/message
