Welcome to This Meets That, the podcast where movies combine with other movies to make other movies. It's a convoluted premise for a podcast, so I helpfully explain it over and over again until you're sick of it.

This week, its the first episode of Season Two and my first attempt at tackling an entire franchise, specifically Cloverfield, a weird series of barely connected movies all with different sci-fi sub genres and styles, starting with the least intuitive one - giant monsters and found footage. Then I watch Escape From New York, a classic sci-fi action movie from legendary director John Carpenter, sans Vampires, and sans sci-fi or action.
